Nadia Whitfield is TalkBeds' Sleep Science Editor. A sleep researcher and science writer by background, she is the reason our sleep and health claims can be trusted. While our testers focus on how a mattress feels, Nadia focuses on what the evidence actually says, translating peer-reviewed research and public-health guidance into clear, honest advice that doesn't overpromise.

Her core job is fact-checking. Before a claim about sleep posture, spinal alignment, temperature regulation, back pain, or sleep quality goes live on TalkBeds, Nadia reviews it against reputable, current sources. She leans on organizations like the Sleep Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke at the NIH. If a statement isn't supported by solid evidence, she rewrites it, qualifies it, or cuts it. She has little patience for the tired myths that circulate in the mattress industry, and part of her role is keeping our content myth-free and evidence-based.

Nadia is careful about the line between helpful information and medical advice. She makes sure our guides remind readers that a mattress is not a treatment, and that anyone with persistent pain or a suspected sleep disorder should see a qualified physician or a board-certified sleep specialist. That caution is deliberate: she'd rather send a reader to a doctor than let confident-sounding copy stand in for real care.

Beyond fact-checking individual claims, Nadia helps set the standards behind our whole editorial operation, from how we source health information to how we disclose the limits of what a review can tell you. She works alongside our testers and editors so that hands-on findings and scientific accuracy reinforce each other rather than pull in different directions. Her guiding principle is simple: readers deserve sleep advice that is accurate, current, and free of hype. You can see how her fact-checking fits into our broader standards in our Editorial Policy.
